After a poor 2005 Wetterich played really well in 2006, picking up his first PGA Tour win at the Byron Nelson Classic and also had a tie for second at the Memorial. Qualified for the Ryder Cup, but he might have regretted that, losing a Friday fourball to Sergio Garcia and Jose Maria Olazabal 3&2 and losing to David Howell 5&4 on the Sunday.

Has maintained improvement this season and has recorded an 8th at the Honda and a second to Tiger at the World Golf Championships-CA Championship. Inconsistency is his biggest fault and missed cut at Oakmont.

Can’t be considered a contender really.
