It has been five years since a Major now for the Big Easy and it certainly isn’t getting any easier. Els is fully recovered from a serious knee injury sustained whilst sailing with his family in July, 2005, but has yet to find his previous form. Won two US Opens (1994 and 1997) and an Open (his last Major at Muirfield in 2002) but has suffered more than most from the Tiger-factor.

Not quite firing in 2007, but shot four rounds in the 60s to finish third at the Nissan Open, was second to eventual the Verizon Heritage winner Boo Weekley, who chipped in for par on the final two holes.

Failed to repeat 1994 US Open success at Oakmont, but played all weekend and finished tied 51st. A great Sunday 65 saw him finish one shot behind the play-off at the Scottish Open and seems to be finding form.
