Grew up the son of a rice farmer and was a teenage powerlifter. Later earned the nickname Tank because he could squat 350 pounds although he weighed a mere 95!

He is certainly muscling his way around Carnoustie. Made his breakthrough on the US Tour in 2002 by winning two tournaments, the Compaq Classic of New Orleans and, in his 86th career start, the Tampa Bay Classic. After barren couple of years in the States (a third at the 2004 Masters and the German Masters title in Europe apart) won the Chrysler Classic of Greensboro in 2005 and the Chrysler Championship in 2006.

Now on a hotstreak after winning the Memorial and the AT&T National either side of missing the cut in the US Open. Survived potential last hole disaster on Friday at Carnoustie to stay in contention.
